Yes. If you run a business, you can absolutely do your own SEO. The thing stopping most owners is not ability, and it is not effort. It is knowing what to actually do. Traditional SEO tools are very good at showing you data, and almost none of them tell you what to do about it. If you are still deciding whether to hand it over, what an SEO agency actually costs is worth reading first.
The hard part is not the SEO. It is knowing what to work on.
Open a typical SEO tool as a business owner and you get scores, charts, warnings, keyword lists and a dashboard full of terms you did not sign up to learn. It is all technically true, and none of it answers the only question you actually have: what should I work on this week?
You do not have time to become an SEO analyst on top of running the business. You need the two or three things worth doing, and enough help to do them. Everything else is noise.
Most SEO software shows you data. EightySixOS shows you what to do about it.
What a business owner actually needs
Strip SEO back to what matters to an owner and it comes down to four honest questions:
- What changed? Something moved. What was it, in plain terms.
- Why does it matter? What it means for the business, not for a metric.
- What should I do? A short, prioritised list, not a hundred warnings.
- How do I do it? Enough guidance to actually carry the work out.
Answer those four, in order, and SEO stops being a foreign language. That is the whole idea, and it is a very different job from drawing another chart.
Do you need an agency, or a system to follow?
Hiring an SEO agency is the right call for a lot of businesses, and a good one earns its fee. But plenty of owners are not ready for a retainer, or would simply rather keep their hands on their own marketing. For a long time the only real options were a monthly agency bill or a pile of tools and good luck.
There is a middle path: a structured system that tells you what to do and helps you do it, for a fraction of the cost of ongoing agency support. It is not a replacement for an expert when you genuinely need one, and it will not promise you rankings. What it offers is direction you can actually follow.
What EightySixOS Solo is being built to be
I run an SEO agency, and I am building EightySixOS to run it. The same engine that watches an agency's clients, scores their technical health, reads their Search Console and analytics and explains what is going on can be pointed at a single business instead of a hundred. That is EightySixOS Solo.
Solo watches your own search and website data, spots the changes that matter, prioritises what needs attention, explains why in plain English, and helps you carry out the work, then tracks whether it helped. It is live today, not a someday product: a 7-day free trial, then $49 a month for your first three months, $79 a month after that, for one business.
If that is the version of SEO you have been waiting for, one that tells you what to do rather than burying you in numbers, you can start your free trial.
SEO that tells you what to do next.
