Why built in

Auditing shouldn't live in a separate tab.

Screaming Frog and Sitebulb are excellent at deep, one-off crawls. EightySixOS isn't trying to replace them. It puts technical auditing where the rest of the client work already lives, so the finding and the fix and the proof are one continuous thread.

The standalone-tool problem

A desktop crawler hands you a CSV and walks away. The findings live outside the work, so fixing them and proving them becomes a second, separate job.

The context problem

An audit with no memory of the client can't tell you what changed since last time, or whether the thing you fixed last month has quietly come back.

The reporting problem

The client never sees the technical work. Hours of real fixes disappear into a spreadsheet no one opens, and the report shows a line on a chart instead.

Each crawl scores the site out of 100 and ranks what it finds by severity. Every issue comes in plain language: what it is, why it matters, the pages it affects, and what it cost the score.

The checks are deterministic, so they only fire on a genuine problem. A clean crawl tells you how many checks passed, rather than burying the real issues under invented ones.

What it checks

Five categories. One health score.

An HTTP-first crawler fetches and parses each page and records how it rendered, so every finding traces back to real evidence, not a black box. The checks group into five categories, each scored, each rolling up into one number.

Crawlability

Can search engines reach every page?

Flags pages that time out, fail to fetch, or return a 4xx or 5xx status, plus internal images that never load. If Google can't fetch it, nothing else matters.

Indexability

Will the pages you want indexed get indexed?

Checks the URLs in your sitemap for the quiet contradictions: ones blocked to Googlebot, marked noindex, redirecting, erroring, or pointing their canonical somewhere else.

Canonicals & redirects

Is there one clear version of each page?

Surfaces pages with no canonical, more than one canonical, a canonical on another domain, and redirect chains longer than a single hop.

Metadata

Does every page describe itself clearly?

Finds missing, duplicated or repeated titles, meta descriptions and H1s, invalid structured data, and images with missing or filename-only alt text.

Site structure

Does the internal structure hold together?

Catches orphaned pages with no internal links to them, indexable pages missing from the sitemap, broken internal links, and oversized or unsized images.

Alongside the categories, Technical Health surfaces Core Web Vitals: a Lighthouse lab test and, where field data exists, real-world numbers from Chrome users.

A real crawl

It actually crawls the site.

Not a homepage spot-check. The crawler works through the site, follows internal links, reads the sitemap, and records the status, depth and response time of every page it touches.

Each crawl keeps its own receipts: what was discovered, fetched and parsed, how many links it saw, how long it took. So a score is never a number you have to take on faith.

Is this a replacement for Screaming Frog or Sitebulb?
No. Those are excellent dedicated crawlers. EightySixOS puts technical SEO auditing inside the agency workflow, so a finding becomes tracked work and lands in the client's report, instead of ending its life in a CSV.
How does the crawler work?
It's an HTTP-first crawler. It fetches and parses each page, follows internal links, reads your XML sitemap, and records the render method with every finding. Each crawl reports what it discovered, fetched and parsed.
What does it check?
Dozens of checks across five categories: crawlability, indexability, canonicals and redirects, metadata, and site structure. They roll up into a single technical health score out of 100, with issues ranked by severity. Technical Health also surfaces Core Web Vitals.
Can I schedule crawls, or run them on demand?
Both. Run a crawl on demand, or set a recurring weekly schedule. Every crawl is compared against the previous one, so you can see what's new, what's fixed and what's unchanged.
